Last year through some other works I did I really felt like I could clearly see what I was doing and where I needed to go. I had felt like I was rushing around constantly trying to fulfill many roles and doing things for others that in the end I really didn't have to be doing. I stopped for a while to appreciate where I was then laid down to focus on what it is I love and what it is I am good at - creating imagery. I will try and find the works I did last year and post the images, until then, these are some I created reflecting the same idea. I bought the beautiful French cotton rag at Parker's Fine Art Supplies in Sydney and the paint was liquitex paint that was quite old and turning into a putty consistency in the tube. I could almost mould the images onto the cotton rag. It felt lovely.
Yoko Ono - Water Talk
You are water I'm water We're all water in different containers That's why it's so easy to meet Someday we'll evaporate together But even after the water's gone We'll probably point out to the containers And say, "that's me there, that one", We're container minders (Text from Half-a-Wind Show, Lisson Gallery, London 1967 Went to visit the Caboolture Regional Art Gallery to see work from Impress Gallery members, also work by Brian Robinson and Joel Sam Stunning. This was a section of an etching from Brian Robinson's work 'They spread their wings and began to soar', 2010. His work is beautiful.
"Significant Form" by Clive Bell, 1913. This is well worth the read. I think it was Bell's writing and articles of the time that help make cubism accepted.
