My mother and I were going through some of her recipe books while cooking over Christmas and we found this handmade printed card. It was a card written to my mothers Aunty Elsie by some missionaries in Thailand (Elsie supported missionaries financially and emotionally). Beautifully it is a 'business [that] employes around 50 poor and low-caste women, who are naturally a high risk group for trafficking. Bhaktapur was originally funded by UNICEF but they are now a self-sustaining business' (Made by Survivors Blog, 2007). More info on Global conduct, the little shop of fair trade. |
