Part of the workshop in New York was to figure a way of how we would map out and visually tell a story. I have for now decided to draw a picture for each 24 hour period while I was there using my diary (written), photographs, visual memory and emotional memory to put down some images. I would like to collate these and then take it a step further to produce some kind of print. I have a real physical desire to work on vinyl cut-out again. It might go there, it might not. Anyway here is my day one from plane trip to where we were staying on 23rd Street and the skyline of the city as we approached. We were waiting for our transfer and the wind was warm. I felt relatively relaxed at this point and the sun was setting as we made our way into town. There was a plastic bag floating through the sky and the lights from all the cars coming with us into the city and away from us created thousands of little light specks. The lights at the top of the picture are those hung in the trees at Madison Square Garden where we had a look before going to bed. There is the eye of the driver in the rear vision mirror. The paper is Huun paper I picked up at New York Art Supply shop. |
