The New Whitney Museum opens on the 1st May in New York City. I cannot wait to see this building inside and out and am so fortunate to be able to in six weeks. Another article on blouin artinfo 'The Whitney's Old Soul'. Also hoping to see MoMA's PS1, the New Museum on Bowery Street, a Kiki Smith stained glass window in a jewish synagogue (Eldridge Street) on the lower east side, graffiti art in the Bronx, the Bronx Museum and the Studio museum in Harlem, the DUMBO neighbourhood and the Brooklyn Museum (Basquiat exhibition), a Gustav Klimt painting in the Neue Galerie on the upper east side, a Friday night drawing session in the galleries of the Metropolitan, the Drawing Center in SoHo and the sculptures of the Rockerfeller (see if I can afford anything at Christie's auction house while I am there). I want to see the plays 'The Audience' and 'The Spoils'. I will be content just spending time at the School of Visual Art, NYC, but completely content taking in some of these other things. My eyes will be in heaven. There is something about writing the things you want down and waiting for it to happen. Too much to do possibly not enough time to do it all. My brother in-law and sister-in-law gave me the opportunity to go to New York last year....who would have thought I would get a second bite of the cherry. So grateful!
